McAfee VirusScan 13.0 is the latest version of this software included in the brand new MacAfee VirusScan Plus 2009 package. We can buy a one year subscription online or give it a free try for 30 days (with support via e-mail and chat included and all the features activated). After downloading and installing it, we can access this utility via McAfee Security Center interface and we can perform a full scan of all our system (including external devices, e-mail, Internet, and instant messenger) or a custom scan. It monitors our computer looking for viruses, troyans, spyware, adware, tracking cookies, malware, and other unwanted threats. Once the scan ends, a report is presented with the results. While the scan is done it automatically fixes some issues detected while we can opt to remove the rest of the harmful items, put them on quarantine or ignore them. If an internet connection is provided it automatically updates. We can also set regular scans and see detailed information about the items found as well as the scanning history. It runs under the following operating systems: Windows 2000 (32-bit), XP (32-bit), Vista (32- or 64-bit). It is compatible with the following e-mail programs: Outlook Express, Outlook, IncrediMail ,Eudora, Netscape, Thunderbird; Shuriken, Becky and PostPet.
